Mahukona

One of the best things about Mahukona is it's easy entrance and exit. This is literally one of the easiest shore dives in Hawaii. You can park right at the water's edge on the concrete pier and throw gear in for entry and the climb up the short ladder for exit. On calm days, this is just a big beautiful swimming pool.

There is plenty of coral, and fish here as well as some old wreckage from the days when this place was a bustling freight harbour. This is an excellent snorkelling and scuba spot with plenty to see and is usually protected from winds. You probably won't get deeper here than 45' to 50' although if you kept going straight out you could get a bit deeper. Most of the reef is from about 15' to 40' deep. During big ocean swells, this place does have potential of becoming a huge soup bowl of waves and water so please take a look at conditions before jumping in.

The boat crane is still used by local fisherman so please avoid parking in the boat launch and boat wash area and be respectful of the Aina.
